Brazil's first opponents at the 1962 World Cup, beaten 2–0 with a goal from Pelé.
Mexico met Brazil in Viña del Mar on 30 May 1962. Pelé set up Zagallo for the first goal and scored the second in a 2–0 win. It was his only goal of that tournament. Eight years later Mexico hosted the World Cup that Brazil won.
