Waldemar de Brito was a forward who played for clubs in Brazil and Argentina and for Brazil, and was among the best dribblers in the country in the 1930s. As coach of the Bauru Atlético Clube juniors he saw Pelé's talent. In 1956 he took the 15-year-old to Santos for a trial and, by Wikipedia's account, told the club's directors that the boy would be the best player in the world.
