Corinthians Futebol Clube, from Santo André in Greater São Paulo, were Santos's opponents in a friendly on 7 September 1956. Pelé scored, his first goal as a senior player, in a 7–1 win. Their goalkeeper, Zaluar, was later known as the man who conceded Pelé's first goal.
